SUMMARY
The TIG Welder is responsible for setting up and operating various types of TIG welding equipment.  Requires planning and lay out of TIG operations on a variety of assemblies, parts and fabrications of nonferrous materials by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below.  Other duties may be assigned.
1. Plans, lies out and performs a range of TIG operations on a variety of assemblies, parts and fabrications of nonferrous material.
2. Works from blueprints, sketches, and weld symbols, written and oral instructions to plan and lay out work in a proper sequence.
3. Manipulates electrodes or torches, to lay a smooth even bead and obtain proper penetration and fusion while avoiding burning or distortion.
4. Visually inspects work and cleans grind welds as required to ensure quality requirements are met and maintained.  
5. Assembles parts, handles and positions work and fixtures, blocks, clamps, and holds components in relative position to avoid distortion.
6. Plans and develops required shop aids and simple fixtures.
7. Maintains required certifications to meet state and federal regulations in steel and aluminum.
8. Follows safety procedures established within the department.
9. Performs a wide range of difficult welding operations.
10. Reports defective material, equipment operating difficulties, and questionable conditions to supervisor.
11. Visually passes the eye exam per MIL-STD-1595.
12. Overtime may be required.
13. Must be able to accurately count parts and verify that matches quantity specified on travelers.
14. Behaves courteously to coworkers and customers, follows directions of supervisors and refrains from loud, aggressive or profane language and behavior.
15. Regular work attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
